As the name suggests, this arcade conversion updates the basic Asteroids gameplay. That means to say that the main gameplay consists of flying through single-screen wrap-around levels shooting at rocks, which split into smaller rocks when hit, eventually becoming small enough to disappear.

In this case the Asteroids are protecting Mukor, an evil being who is poisoning planets under the Colonising Corp’s control. Each level is split into either 9 or 16 sub-levels, which are chosen through a square in which any remaining level which is adjacent to the last level completed can be selected. There are 3 different ships (Speeder, Fighter and Warrior), which can be switched between at any time. Power-ups (including improved weapons, shield recharges and a faster thrust) can be collected by flying into them.

Description from the packaging:

Blast space rocks or bite space dust.

They used to tell you that space was the final frontier, vast and lonely.

As you gaze out of your starship, you realize that space is anything but lonely. And it's certainly not big enough for you and the countless asteroids about to smash your craft into smithereens.

You should have listened to your mother who wanted you to be a space doctor. But noooo, you has to go into the Blasteroid business.

Oh well, might as well earn your pay and start clearing out this sector to make it safe for space travel. With four galaxies to clear of asteroids and enemy vessels, your job is cut out for you.

With a shove of the throttle, you spin your ship in mad arcs, constantly twisting and dodging. All the while, you're firing laser blasts, turning huge asteroids into little rocks, and those into space dust. And it's just too bad about those enemy ships trying to do the same to you. But nobody should get in the way of someone making a decent living.

Blasteroids. It's a dirty job, but somebody's got to do it.
